Community Foundation to Announce Grant Recipients at Heart of Gold Banquet
The Rusk County Community Foundation will hold its coming out event, the Heart of Gold Awards Ceremony, on September 14 at the Tee A Way in Ladysmith. “This event is open to the public and we encourage everyone to attend,” said Kathy Pakes, chair of the Rusk County Community Foundation. “The award ceremony is a great way to meet the Foundation board, find out what the Foundation is about, and be a part of the first grants awarded by the Foundation. Because space is limited, those interested in attending the awards ceremony should RSVP soon.”
Over the summer the Foundation accepted nominations identifying persons in the Rusk County community who have demonstrated they have a “heart of gold”. At the September 14 banquet the following persons will be recognized for their dedicated commitment to the community: Joe Baye, Joe Clough, Marty Edming, Mary Federle, Deb Flater, Gary Hecimovich, Bob Kudingo, Winnie Lee, Todd Lemke, Pauline Lundgren, All Miller and Richard LaBelle, Jeremy Peery, Kathy Peterson, Jill Marie Phillips, Mark Stevsvold, Helen Swanson, Ann Vierck, and Linda Zimmer.
In addition to recognizing these individuals at the Heart of Gold banquet, three from these nominees will be specially recognized for their dedication, having been chosen from a panel of citizens throughout the county. At the Heart of Gold ceremony the three specially recognized individuals will each select a local charity. These charities shall each receive a $1,000 grant from the foundation.
